Because they're short-staffed, they can't spend as much personal time with her. The furniture and some of the stuff are a little dated, nothing is torn or dirty, but they need to update and buy some new things.
I was told by the new facility that this was delayed because the responsible people at the Guilford House were always "on the phone" when they called, and they would never return their calls. Given that I had multiple instances where the Guilford House personnel did not return calls as promised, I can believe this. One cynical interpretation is that they purposely delayed to get a couple more days of Medicare billing.When we finally left, I had to wheel my mom and her belongings to the curb myself.

My opinion was that the nursing staff and aides worked very hard and were good to her, but that the management of the facility was very poor. If I asked two different staff members a question I always seemed to get two different answers.
